Water damage is the worst thing that can happen to an RV that doesn't involve fire. By the time you see the damage, water's been working on the wood substrate for months. The wood's already soft, the rubber roof's separated from the substrate, and there's mold in the cavities. Catching it early saves thousands. Catching it late saves the rig.
Most water damage we see traces back to one of three sources: roof leak (~50%), window seal leak (~20%), or sidewall delamination (~30%). The fix in all cases is the same in concept: stop the leak first, dry the cavity completely, then replace the damaged structure. We do all three steps.
Why Water Damage Fails Faster in Florida
Florida is a particularly bad climate for water damage. Humidity is high enough year-round that wet wood doesn't dry on its own - it just stays wet and rots. A small roof leak in Arizona might dry out and never cause damage. The same leak in Florida will rot a panel in 18 months.
The other Florida-specific issue is daily heat-cycling. Your rig roof goes from 75 to 130 degrees and back every day, and that thermal cycling fatigues sealant. Once the sealant cracks, water gets in. Once water gets in, you've got 6-12 months before structural damage starts.
What We Fix - Water Damage
What Our Water Damage Service Includes
Water damage work always starts with the leak detection - we have to find and stop the source before we can talk about restoration. We use a Tramex Roofscanner moisture meter to map out where water has migrated, and we trace it back to the entry point on the roof, window, or sidewall.
From there we estimate the restoration scope. Light damage (one panel, no mold) runs $485-$1,850. Moderate damage (multiple panels, some mold remediation) runs $2,500-$5,500. Heavy damage (full wall or floor replacement, structural rebuild) runs $5,500-$8,500+.
Pro moisture detection
Tramex Roofscanner and pinless meter find water you can't see. We map the migration path before we cut anything open.
Substrate replacement
We do the carpentry - new framing, new luan, new wood substrate, all to factory spec. Most other mobile shops won't touch this work.
Mold remediation
Florida humidity grows mold fast. We treat affected cavities with EPA-registered antimicrobial before we close them up.
Insurance coordination
We work with most major RV insurance carriers and provide written estimates and photo documentation for claims.

Florida-Specific Water Damage Considerations
If you're in Florida and you suspect water damage, do not wait. The longer wet wood sits in 80% humidity, the worse it gets. We've seen rigs go from "slight bubble in the wall" to "replace the entire side" in 6 months when the owner hoped it would dry out. It won't.
Hurricane season specifically is when we see the worst damage. A storm rolls through, your awning rips off, the roof gets damaged, and water pours in. Then the storm passes, the heat comes back, and the damage starts immediately. If you have hurricane damage, get it assessed within a week.
Emergency Water Damage Service Across Florida
Active water entering the rig is an emergency. Get any contents out of the way, lift cushions and rugs, start fans if you have power, and call (833) 465-8787. We'll prioritize to get there fast - usually within 24-48 hours. The faster the cavity dries, the less the restoration costs.
If your rig is sitting in standing water from a storm, get it on blocks if you can. If you can't, document everything with photos for insurance and call us for the assessment as soon as access is restored.

Water Damage - Common Questions
Straight answers from our water damage call log.
My ceiling has a stain - is the leak active?
We can tell with a moisture meter in 20 minutes. Active leaks read 18%+ moisture content. Old, dried-out leaks read 8-12%. Either way it's worth the $245 detection. - Marc
How fast does water damage spread in Florida?
In our humidity, untreated wood substrate goes from wet-but-fine to structural-failure in 6-12 months. Catch it early.
Will my insurance cover water damage?
Depends on the cause. Sudden damage from a storm or accident usually yes. Long-term leak damage that should have been caught earlier - often no. We can help you sort out the claim path.
Can you fix delamination?
Yes - we cut the affected panel out, replace the substrate and luan, and bond a new outer panel. Plan on $1,250-$2,850 per panel.
Should I just sell the rig if it's water-damaged?
Sometimes. If the damage is structural and the rig is over 15 years old, the math doesn't work. If the rig is newer and the damage is contained, restoration is usually the better call. We'll give you an honest assessment. - Marc
Will the smell go away after repair?
Yes - if we get all the wet wood out and treat for mold. The smell is mold spores, and they need wet wood to survive. Once the cavity is dry and treated, the smell goes.
How long does restoration take?
1-3 days for light damage. 1-2 weeks for moderate. 2-4 weeks for heavy. Done at your storage location.
Can you find a leak that comes and goes?
Usually yes - we use a hose test on the roof to recreate the leak conditions. Often we can find the entry point in one site visit.
Is mold dangerous in an RV?
Yes, particularly for folks with respiratory issues. Florida humidity grows mold faster than other climates. Don't ignore a musty smell.
What's the most-overlooked source of water damage?
Window seals. The frame seal goes brittle, water wicks down inside the wall, and you don't see anything until the wall bubbles years later. We reseal windows as a $385-$685 service - cheap insurance. - Marc
